Classics: “The Picture of Dorian Gray”

Dorian decides to remain young forever, beautiful forever. He is willing to pay a very high price for this, and I am sure that we are all ready to judge him, to point him out as superficial, diabolic, to rise up on the pulpit and declare ourselves better than him.
But if we were given the opportunity to get away from all sin, infraction, slander? If a painting could pay for our sins? Would we still be so moralistic? Would we still be anchored to our judgment?

Friday, June 20 1890, Oscar Wilde prints the first version of The Picture of Dorian Gray: the extraordinary story of the young Dorian who lives in the Victorian London and who loves beauty above anything else. The novel is still considered today the manifesto of the aestheticism and the poetics of art for art’s sake, for which artistic expression is free and independent of the principles of morality.

I Classici: “Il ritratto di Dorian Gray”

Ma se ci venisse data la possibilità di farla franca da ogni peccato, infrazione, maldicenza?
Se a pagare per i nostri peccati fosse un quadro?
Saremmo ancora così moralisti? Resteremmo comunque ancorati al nostro giudizio?

– No. Intendo proprio di mestiere, concretamente, come ti guadagni da vivere?

– Attraverso un’attenta analisi psicosociale associata a ricerche scientifiche, cerco di studiare le emozioni, i linguaggi e i comportamenti degli umani e di riportarli in una forma di fantasia con la quale creo una sorta di intrattenimento per un certo numero di persone, grazie anche al supporto di diversi media.

– Wow! Molto affascinante, se volessi spiegarlo a qualcuno in parole semplici?

– SCRIVO!!!

Drammaturgo non è una parolaccia.

Viene dal greco tardo dramatūrgós, significa compositore di drâma ‘dramma’ e del tema di érgon ‘opera, lavoro’ .
Non suona bene, forse, ma è un mestiere nobile. E duro! Ed esiste da davvero molto, molto, molto tempo.

Non ho scelto di diventarlo, ci sono nata. Fin dalla culla immaginavo storie e appena mi hanno insegnato come fare ho sentito l’esigenza di metterle nero su bianco.
Ma non mi bastava…

“Alice, the Other One”

Why did I like it so much? The answer is simple: the author is at her debut but I feel like I’ve always known her! Since the beginning I found myself absorbed in the story and getting to know the characters as if I had always read her books. It Being able to get intothe story from the very first lines, was relaxing and satisfying. I literally devoured this book, I started it on the train on a Saturday and on the subway on Monday I had already finished it.

The definition of a “heavy” or “light” book always reminds me of the image of a large tome written on 90 gr / m2 paper or, vice versa, on sheets of tissue.

I know very well that, instead, it refers to the plot, and I also use this term sometimes, but this misrepresentation continues to come to my mind.

What is that makes a book  “heavy” or “light”? Surely neither the length, nor the number of machinations, perhaps the type of narration?

For me, it is subjectivity.

I do not deny that there are books that are objectively more difficult than others, written in refined language, very convoluted, but I think that if you are zealous, even those become suddenly light.
I’m not digressing, however the book that I would like to recommend was defined by the critics as “light” and “sparkling”, but I would not want this to belittle…

“L’Altra Alice”

Tutti noi, prima o poi nella vita, ci siamo ritrovati subordinati a qualcuno pur di riuscire nelle nostre ambizioni, Alice è tutti noi, e noi non possiamo che tifare per lei!

Un po’ Bridget Jones un po’ Kay Scarpetta senza però mai copiare, semplicemente mi è sembrato che le omaggi e ne faccia un mix perfetto per un lettore moderno che ha voglia di evadere un po’ senza dover rinunciare a quel tocco di mistero a tinte gialle.

La definizione di un libro “pesante” o “leggero” mi fa sempre venire in mente l’immagine di un grosso tomo scritto su carta 90 gr/m2 o, viceversa, su fogli di carta velina.

So benissimo che invece ci si riferisce alla trama, e anche io lo uso come termine a volte, ma continua a venirmi in mente questa caricatura.

Perché cos’è che fa di una storia un libro “pesante” o “leggero”? di certo non la lunghezza, né il numero degli intrighi, forse il tipo di narrazione?

Per me, è la soggettività.

Non nego che ci siano dei libri oggettivamente più difficili, scritti in linguaggio aulico, molto arzigogolati, ma credo che se ci si appassiona anche quelli diventano improvvisamente leggeri.

Non sto divagando, è che il libro che vorrei consigliare è stato definito dalla critica “leggero” e “frizzante”, ma non vorrei che questo lo sminuisse.

Fatto sta che io l’ho raccomandato a chiunque…

Usually in the morning I have always been busy, once there was the school, then university, then work. But it happened a time when I hadn’t to follow lessons anylonger and worked in the afternoon, and unexpectedly I had time for me in the early hours of the day and I did not know how to use them, and I found out that you can be very productive before lunch .
Or very lazy.

It was a time in my life I was really  full of activities, and the idea of having free hours seemed like a luxury that I wasn’t familiar with. I definitely needed to unplug from the routine and enjoy a little this new time.
And it was then that I began to see How I met Your Mother.
It was a suggestion coming from my brother, I have to admit, that was already a fan…

“Il Buongiorno si vede dal mattino”

È una sit-com LEGGEN-aspettate – DARIA: LEGGENDARIA.
Per nove anni questi personaggi hanno accompagnato la vita di tutti noi, sono stati spostati sul palinsesto televisivo almeno 18 volte, ma fortunatamente con i cofanetti non c’è stato alcun problema.

Solitamente lamattina sono sempre stata impegnata, una volta c’era la scuola, poi l’università, infine il lavoro. Però è capitato un periodo in cui non dovevo seguire più le lezioni e lavoravo di pomeriggio, e ho avuto improvvisamente del tempo per me nelle prime ore del giorno che non sapevo bene come impiegare, e ho scoperto che si può essere molto produttivi prima di pranzo.
O molto oziosi.

Era un periodo della mia vita molto fitto, e l’idea di avere delle intere ore libere mi sembrava un lusso che non sapevo concedermi. Avevo decisamente bisogno di staccare la spina dalla routine e di godermi un po’ questo nuovo tempo.
Ed è stato allora che ho cominciato a vedereHow I met your mother[1].
Su suggerimento di mio fratello, devo ammetterlo, che era già fan e che aveva intuito la mia necessità di rilassarmi e ridere un po’.
