“Bets and Pop Corn”

The word “responsibility” is often used throughout the novel, both in the narrative text and in the dialogue.
But who is responsible here? The media? The murderers? Bruce? Or… the spectators?
After all, it would be enough to turn off the TV to save the lives of these people. But … will they?

We live in a society where no one wants to take responsibility. A man can make mistakes, but he can always say that it is because of something else, perhaps he had a very unhappy childhood, perhaps he was influenced by the politician on duty, or by the films he watches. It’s certainly not his fault!
This is a very widespread thought and over the years I have found it in real life and in films, in TV series and books. We always try to justify evil, perhaps because the idea that someone does it knowingly, with the intention of doing harm, scares us too much. It is easier if we think that that person had no choice, was disturbed, or manipulated or unconscious of bad deeds.

Se la razionalità è ciò che ci distingue dal resto del mondo animale, come mai è così semplice additare qualcosa altro da noi, piuttosto che prendersi la responsabilità delle nostre azioni?!

Prendete del vino rosso, pop corn e mettetevi comodi sul divano. Scommettiamo che vi saprò incantare?

Viviamo in una società in cui nessuno vuole assumersi la responsabilità. Un uomo può commettere errori, ma può sempre affermare che è a causa di qualcosa altro, forse ha avuto un’infanzia molto infelice, forse è stato influenzato dal politico di turno, o dai film che guarda.
Di certo non è colpa sua!

Questo è un pensiero molto diffuso e nel corso degli anni l’ho ritrovato sia nella vita quotidiana sia in film, telefilm e libri. Si cerca sempre di giustificare il male, forse perché l’idea che qualcuno lo faccia consapevolmente, con intenzione di nuocere, ci spaventa troppo. È più facile se pensiamo che quella persona non aveva scelta, era disturbato, o manipolato o inconscio delle brutte azioni. 

Oggi, la giustificazione principale sono i media.
I media sono violenti.
I media incitano alla violenza.

“Il Mondo Emerso dalla Fantasia”

So che ci sono due fazioni contrastanti, chi ritiene che lo stile della Troisi sia troppo “leggero” e chi la adora. Ai posteri l’ardua sentenza, quello che vorrei sottolineare è che il fantasy non è un sottogenere, e anche se lo fosse, ha il grande pregio di trasportarci via per un po’, ci trasforma in eroi, non vale forse la pena di rischiare e aprire il libro per vivere tutto questo?

Agosto 2005, ho appena finito la maturità superata alla grande, cosa sarà mai fare un regalo???
E’ di nuovo il compleanno di mio fratello, come è potuto succedere? Ah sì giusto, è un anniversario, ovvero una ricorrenza che ricade ogni anno, e ogni volta io non so cosa regalargli.
No, non adesso. Ad oggi ho una lista infinita di regali che so per certo possano piacergli, ma quell’anno funesto mio fratello era nel pieno dell’adolescenza, cioè quel periodo in cui “fa tutto schifo, fate tutti schifo, che schifo”, perciò capire cosa potesse fargli “un po’ meno schifo” non era facile…

I haven’t even watched the trailer, but I went to browse around the plot and I found it absolutely brilliant: Kennedy was one of the most beloved presidents of the States, but is it because he is dead too soon? In the short time he was President he made positive choices for his country, but would he continue to go on like this if he stayed alive?

AbramseKing[1],appena ho letto questi due nomi accoppiati mi sono convinta. Non ho nemmeno guardato il trailer, ma sono andata a curiosare in giro per la trama e l’ho trovata assolutamente geniale: Kennedy è stato e rimarrà uno dei Presidenti più amati degli States, ma se lo fosse proprio per la scomparsa prematura? Insomma in quel poco tempo che è stato in carica ha fatto scelte positive per il suo Paese, ma restando in vita sarebbe continuata ad andare così?
Si sarebbero potute evitare alcune delle guerre recenti? Kennedy avrebbe potuto salvare il Mondo?
Sulla base di questo interrogativo inizia il viaggio nel tempo di Jake Epping (James Franco[2]) nel tentativo di cambiare la sorte del Presidente.

Mi è capitato, qualche giorno fa, di imbattermi in un post su facebook che recitava così:

“IL BRUTTO DI NON AVERE LE TETTE E’ CHE DEVI USARE IL CERVELLO TUTTO IL GIORNO.”

Lì per lì ho sorriso e ho scorso avanti. 

Poi però sono tornata indietro, ho salvato il post e ho cominciato a ripostarlo in tutti i miei social, anche come status di whatsapp, mentre a galla mi riveniva in mente come un film dal montaggio alla Memento, tutto il periodo (balordo) delle medie!

Mentre alle mie compagne di classe cominciava a spuntare un fisico da donna, io restavo piatta come una tavola da surf. Qualche insegnante un po’ sciroccata mi diceva che era perché non mangiavo abbastanza proteine… mia madre che dovevo avere pazienza, le tettone che almeno io potevo ancora indossare una maglietta attillata senza che i maschi mi fissassero.
