“Too many lies, Too many truths”

I started it without having the slightest idea that it was based on a true story[2], or that years later it would be a mini-series with exceptional protagonists! Sarah Gadon (11/22/63) is the protagonist, flanked by Kerr Logan (Game of Thrones) in the role of the alleged accomplice, Anna Paquin (True Blood, X-Men) in those of the murdered housekeeper, Edward Holcroft (Vampire Academy) is the face of the doctor who will seek an answer. The mini-series was directed by Mary Harron (American Psycho) with a screenplay adapted by Sarah Polley (Dawn of the Living Dead, Splice).

“Emotions”

But whoever gives away a book intentionally is building a bridge, a pact of trust. Therefore I tend to give away only novels that I have read and that really made me think of that person to whom I decide to give it.

When a person gives away a book, they need to be very careful. We enter the depths of the person we want to give it to, we go and say to this person “I know you, I know you will like it because …”, and at the same time we reveal a little about ourselves. From the choice, from the dedication, from the packaging. It is a long exchange of silent emotions.

I know that many people give away books by hearsay, or fashion, or at the last second or the one with the most captivating cover, the best price or both.

But whoever gives away a book intentionally is building a bridge, a pact of trust. Therefore I tend to give away only novels that I have read and that really made me think of that…

“Engine, Transformation…. Action!”

This “Prophet” so admired in the show obviously does not exist even if in the legend told by J.J. Abrams there is something true; such as the real existence of Pope Alexander VI and Adolf Hitler’s obsessive passion for the occult (the Reich organized Nazi expeditions in the most remote areas of mystical Tibet). Actually Milo Rambaldi is a good story invented by the writers. The surname was inspired by the Italian Carlo Rambaldi, the special effects artist who designed the alien protagonist of the film “E.T. l’extraterrestre” (1982). “Nostravinci” was not the name used by Hitler to indicate the prophet, but a simple composition of the names of Nostradamus and Leonardo da Vinci. In the story of Alias the Rambaldi mystery is the key to the story in the events of the protagonists: to remember the “Page 47” which represents Sydney as the Chosen One who must follow Rambaldi’s word …….

Through The Mirror

Long before LOST, JJ Abrams had already produced two masterpieces, the drama-comedy Felicity and, with almost the same cast, the spy story ALIAS.

The plot immediately persuaded me, “Alias[1]” tells the story of Sidney Bristow (played by Jennifer Garner), a college student, who is offered a job within a section of the CIA, which she accepts, and that makes it operational in a very short time. After some time, and some missions, Sydney realizes that her father, Jack Bristow (played by Victor Garber) also works within the section, with whom she has never managed to establish a real father-daughter relationship … But not that’s all, apparently the section it’s part of, the SD-6 isn’t exactly on the side of the good guys… what’s the truth? And who know it?

Bradley Cooper came out of this show, if the plot hasn’t convinced you, maybe this news will. But…

“Home is where you eat the best foods”

This book is consoling, like a warm broth in the early autumn cold, like a cover against a cold, like a wet patch on the forehead burning with fever; brings to mind the lunches from Sunday in which all the relatives gather to eat with passion baked pasta, second courses of rabbits, chickens and fillings, succulent delights

There is always a spinster aunt in the family, usually. If I continue at this rate, the next generation could be the one to represent the category …

Even if today, we say single.

The spinster aunt, usually, can be of two types: A) the one who cooks in the kitchen for all the grandchildren, taking the place of a third grandmother, who never knows which table she belongs to, who knits and takes over the whole family and who always tells the usual four journeys of when she was young…. Or B) the wanderer who is always around the world, returns only to the holidays that are always commanded with new stories and new gifts.

Here, I hope to be at least the type B.

For a while I had one on each side, maternal and paternal, then when everyone had lost hope, both prototype A and B found…

“The World Emerged from FANTASY”

It is a captivating trilogy capable of involving at any age, in a different way. We became so enthusiastic and attached to Troisi’s way of writing that we subsequently also read “Legends” and “Wars” always linked to the Emerged World, with equally strong and intelligent protagonists. And with plots that are not at all obvious, and above all a happy ending not always achieved.

August 2005, I just finished high school, what will it be like to give a gift ???
It’s my brother’s birthday again, how could this happen? Oh yes that’s right, it’s an anniversary, or a recurrence that falls every year, and every time I don’t know what to give him.
No, not right now. To date I have an endless list of gifts that I know for sure he will like him, but that fatal year my brother was in the height of adolescence, that is, that period in which “everything sucks, you all suck, that’s disgust”, so understand what could make him “a little less disgusting” was not easy …

Books.

I have no other choice. Although home libraries are about to burst it is really the only thing with which I have an attempt not to see the expression of someone who has just eaten a rotten lemon…

The French writer Victor Hugo wrote of melancholy which is “the joy of feeling sad”. It could be defined as the desire, at the bottom of the soul, for something that one has never had, but which one agonizingly misses.

“She said, ‘I’m so afraid.’ And I said, ‘why?,’ and she said, ‘Because I’m so profoundly happy, Dr. Rasul. Happiness like this is frightening.’ I asked her why and she said, ‘They only let you be this happy if they’re preparing to take something from you.”[1]

There was an Autumn in which I didn’t feel very well, I didn’t have time to recover from one flu that I was having another.

It happens to everyone sooner or later in life, it’s nothing to worry about. It becomes, however, if it is the Autumn of the last year of high school, in which all the professors rage and terrify you…

“It is always (RED) tea time”

A curiosity of the TV series lies in the titles of the episodes, in fact up to the eighth of the sixth season, the word “red” or other terms that refer to color (such as “blood”, “crimson” or “cherry”) always appear. This is a clear reference to the name of serial killer Red John, who, while not appearing in all the episodes, is regularly involved in the psychological life of the protagonist. In the Italian version, the word “red” is always put in the titles, even when in the original title are found other words.
