“A Blanket, Churros, and New Words”

The protagonist of “Apex Hides the Hurt” is a terminology consultant. If someone needs the right name for his or her new product – whether it’s a car or an antidepressive, a snack or a spoon -, he’s the one.

Through The Mirror

Winter. High-necked sweaters, steaming mugs, hearty plates and duvets. Fireplace. The snow. Chat with friends in front of board games away from attics and cellars.

“All he felt now was envy. These people had expectations. Of the world, of the future, it didn’t matter–expectation was such an innovative concept to him that he couldn’t help but be a bit moved by what they were saying. Whatever that was.”
― Colson Whitehead, Apex Hides the Hurt

I always imagined that when I went to live on my own, I would spend the winter like that. I don’t know if I thought I’d become a millionaire all of a sudden to buy a chalet complete with a fireplace and rooms for each visitor, or just as a good screenwriter I let myself be carried away by fiction, because I live there alone, winter is coming, but not only I don’t have a fireplace…

“«Three dollars » and the scent of Spring”

What could I do with just three dollars? I wondered. Sure, I don’t have a son or a husband, but there’s still a paltry three dollars left.

Through The Mirror

I’d like to get more books from libraries, but I can’t because the book is like a dear friend to me and I can’t put it back on some stranger’s shelf, thinking that maybe they might treat it badly. So I tend to buy them, but the shelves are what they are and sometimes they overflow and while waiting to stock up on new ones I certainly can’t stop reading! Hence, it rarely happens that I borrow titles.

Borrowed books are different from the others, because they carry the past of those who have read them before: whether it is for a crumpled page, or for the slightly deformed paper edges, for a note on the side, for the movie ticket as a bookmark, a coffee stain, a smudge where a crumb has fallen … they reveal something from the previous reader, something intimate …

A loaned book is a…

“The sender”

If WHB sends us a message that we would define “so-so”, or simply “stupid” , we will always be able to find a nice shade to it, a nice twist or a profound justification; but if TPU is sending it, then not even quoting Shakespeare would be able to move us. He probably also tries hard, thinks about it, writes, deletes, rewrites it.

Through The Mirror

I have been thinking for a while that boys are divided into two general classes – within which we can obviously find different and varied nuances – That Poor Unfortunate (also called TPU) and the One Who Makes Us Beat The Heart (abbreviated as WHB).

We don’t like TPU.
WHB we do.

Easy and painless (more or less).

How to recognise them?

If WHB sends us a message that we would define “so-so”, or simply “stupid” , we will always be able to find a nice shade to it, a nice twist or a profound justification; but if TPU is sending it, then not even quoting Shakespeare would be able to move us. He probably also tries hard, thinks about it, writes, deletes, rewrites it. He could make up the most varied excuses just to get in touch with us. But nothing. He would not be able to  move us…

“The First Love is never forgotten… ( but which?)” – part III

Through The Mirror

Previosly: “The First Love is never forgotten… ( but which?)” – part I“The First Love is never forgotten… ( but which?)” – part II

The important stages. So first kiss. First I love you. First time.

First time.

Omg how vague we are. What an insurmountable taboo. “First time”. The first time of what ???? Who do the dishes? What did you read a book?
No.

The first time you have sex.
Sex. I said it. And I wasn’t thunderstruck!

Everyone in nature does it, so why all this fear of naming it? It’s not Voldemort!

However, my first time was not with The footballer. Throughout the chaos, sex has never been consumed.

How it happened that didn’t happen I have no idea!

The Shy.

Before him I had been dating only guys of a certain type, of the assholes type, so to speak. One way or another…

“The First Love is never forgotten… ( but which?)” – part II

Double doubts

Through The Mirror

Previosly:“The First Love is never forgotten… ( but which?)” – part I

The important stages. So first kiss. First I love you. First time.

The first I love you.

I want to emphasize that I am not telling certain brawls!

If anything, if I really must, I do it in writing. Oh god I will be alien eh, but the sound of those words makes me a mega extreme allergic attack effect that even if I pass through a tunnel among trees in full bloom.

It has always been like this, while my friends were telling it to everyone, nevertheless of whether to their partner or the Hollywood star of the moment, I have always chosen to say it in other ways.

And this is the only point on which I’m glad I’m not English because otherwise I would have been fucked!

But a couple of times it has…

“Are you friendzoning me?!?!”

Through The Mirror

Let’s speak out , the friend zone is a social evil that is advancing silently without mercy . It has indiscriminately hit men and women, adults and teenagers, reality and fiction, and the symptoms are different and therefore recognising them is very very difficult.
For those who do not know what the friend zone is, let me enlighten you:

tumblr_mw3582lbxw1t09u03o3_500-1424891256Like exponential diffusion, it is difficult to recognize. This is mainly because the communication between men and women has always been complex, no one has yet managed to encode a language that translates immediately from “female” to “male” and vice versa; communication in writing, as happens more and more often with social media (fb or twitter) or with the old dear sms, whatsapp and email, between the two sexes is risky .

“11.22.63 _ Save President Kennedy (or don’t)”

Abrams and King, as soon as I read these two paired names I was convinced. I haven't even watched the trailer, but I went to browse around the plot and I found it absolutely brilliant: Kennedy was one of the most beloved presidents of the States, but is it because he is dead too soon? … Continua a leggere “11.22.63 _ Save President Kennedy (or don’t)”

“The First Love is never forgotten… ( but which?)” – part I

Today I saw Cappellino Viola - I know, what a stupid name! But the first time I met his green eyes he was wearing this senseless purple hat and not knowing the name, class, age ... he got this nickname. I haven't seen him for so many years that I didn't identify him for a … Continua a leggere “The First Love is never forgotten… ( but which?)” – part I
