“Let’s play a GAME”

Isolation is what I perceive the most from this book. And it was nice to read it by the sea, surrounded by the sun, the waves, the happy people, and still feel the sense of anguish and loneliness of Ellie / Smudge … With Sia’s tormented voice * as the soundtrack …

Have you ever felt this way?

Through The Mirror

“Have you ever been afraid of being trapped in someone else’s life?”

bn

Having read this sentence, I was already virtually conquered. By now it i should be clear that I read everything but I have a predilection for thrillers, especially those with a psychological basis.

The identity loss is a theme that I particularly like and I think that is the reason why I follow the TV series Orphan Black with such passion. And for the same reason I was unable to separate myself from reading,“Beside Myself“, the fictional debut of the English Ann Morgan.

Two twins and a game that is as simple as it is dangerous: swap for a while and see if anyone notices that.

I believe that any homozygous couple has done it at least once, perhaps to avoid an interrogation, to test friends, or simply as a joke.

A game.

Nothing more.

But…

“Welcome to Wayward Pines, your final resting place …”

“Don’t try to leave.

Don’t talk about the past.

Don’t talk about your previous life.

Always answer the phone if it rings.

Work hard, be happy.

Enjoy life in Wayward Pines”

Ps. Seasons are 2, not 3 as we thought

Through The Mirror

Winter, armed with fleece blankets and freshly brewed coffee, my friend Anna and I go to the computer in search of some new and exciting TV series. We chatted, we arranged the room, we also went out for the classic walk in the village, now we deserve to relax in the warm warmth of four walls.

We watch different TV series at the moment, so we have to rely on the news.

What kind? Good question!

“Don’t try to leave. Don’t talk about the past. Don’t talk about your previous life. Always answer the phone if it rings. Work hard, be happy. Enjoy life in Wayward Pines”

We read this header next to the photo of a mature Matt Dillon surrounded by dark and creepy characters. We look at each other. We nod. We are convinced.

And that’s how our adventure started with one of the most disturbing series on…

Do you ever get “called” by a book? He is there, on his shelf with many others, and when you pass it is as if it were whispering “take meeeeee, read meeeeee”.

I hope so or I begin to think I am hallucinating. Or maybe it’s just the post-book effect.

Anyway, three years ago I walked past a shelf and Wulf Dorn’s “The Psychiatrist” called me, seduced me into taking it. But then for one reason or another I kept it there, on my shelf to collect dust and time, without reading it. Until this winter, on a mostly rainy afternoon, while I was arranging…

“Desire for a change…”

I decided to change my look. But since between budget and time I can't go to the hairdresser even in the yellow area, I'll do it again on the blog …New fonts, new theme, new colors….how about? There are actually many things that I would like to change right now. I'm in smartworking. Many think … Continua a leggere “Desire for a change…”

“About New Moon”

In the film you can see my elbow. Not even that of the other three, but it was a wonderful experience, extraordinarily tiring and yet satisfying. Absolutely to be redone, sooner or later.

Through The Mirror

Some of you will remember it, about ten years ago the vampire fashion was at the top, especially the glittery ones.

Jackson Rathbone Twilight GIF

Now, as an avid fan of bad and bloody vampires, I was a bit perplexed, but all the people who read Twilight recommended it to me, so I fell for it, to the umpteenth “you absolutely must read them” by my friend Kekka, I read them.

I admit that I immediately fell in love with the writing style, not so much with the plot which is reduced to being the classic teenage love triangle with the only difference that the two suitors are supernatural beings. But it is written really, really well (credit for Stephanie Meyer), so much so that I was convinced to go with the aforementioned Kekka to wait for the fourth volume to be released outside the old bookshop in Via Nazionale, in which there were…

“happy ne year, in September”

Last year I wrote this: And so, you're back. As every year. Not much can be done about it ... Which is not even your fault, you didn't choose to be proposed as the beginning of the end. You didn't choose to be a very long Monday. You certainly have not decided to have the … Continua a leggere “happy ne year, in September”

“Who is the number 67?”

“Shutter Island”[1], by Dennis Lehane, edited in Italy with the ambiguous name of “The island of fear”, ambiguous because with this title, I would have expected a classic horror. Instead, it is a captivating psychological thriller, 345 pages of novel, set on Shutter Island as revelead by the title, a mysterious island reachable just by a ferryboat that doesn’t even have precise schedules. A former prison, now home to a criminal psychiatric sanatorium.

Actually, thinking about it, the island is quite frightening!

Through The Mirror

Today,

surrounded by an autumn storm, I’ve decidedto talk about a book that could be the symbol of the psychological thriller, a novel that holds on its toes, confuses, puts anxiety and fear such as “and if it happened to me?” but at the same time reassures for the remote era in which it is set, for the distance with the reality “it would never happen to me”.

You must probably know the movie that was made out of it, but I promise that reading the book, while  sitting on the armchair, is much worth I’m talking about “Shutter Island”[1], by Dennis Lehane, edited in Italy with the ambiguous name of “The island of fear”, ambiguous because with this title, I would have expected a classic horror. “Knock – Knock : Murder or Treat?”

provide yourself with the S’mores Lollipop * and other mouth-watering treats, with a beautiful face mask (one of those that…. if you open the door with that cucumber smeared on your face you are more scarying than if you wore a full Halloween costume), and make sure that there is still a daylight, or someone in your home that can protect you from the psychological anxiety that this show generates.

Through The Mirror

Halloween has always been one of my favourite celebrations!

I know, I know, is not an Italian custom. giphy8So what? I celebrate it anyway. It will be for my penchant for the theatre but the idea of dressing up and walk around with a different face for a night in which everything-can-happen, it’s something I really like!

I’m glad that in recent years it is also spreading here and that some children come knocking for the traditional “trick or treat?”; It will not be a little make-up and fun to make us lose our cultural identity !!
What I hope is not going to be imported along with the festivities and costumes by creatures of the night, it is the incredible spear in murders that take place on the night of October 31.
I don’t think it’s the party itself to blame, whilst the possibility for murderers to blend…
