* Spiced potatoes with basil mayonnaise
(the recipe is from my dear friend, Anna)

Ingredients for the potatoes for 4 people:

-8 Red potatoes.
-150g Parmesan
-1 teaspoon of strong paprika.
-1 Teaspoon of dry rosemary
-1 teaspoon of pepper
-30g parsley
-Salt to taste
-50 ml Extra virgin olive oil

Ingredients for basil mayonnaise

-2 egg yolks
-Juice of half a lemon
-Salt and Pepper To Taste
-Extra virgin olive oil
-10 basil leaves

Basil mayonnaise:

Pour the egg yolks into a bowl, add the salt and pepper, then begin to blend with an immersion blender, adding the oil slowly.
Once the mayonnaise begins to thicken, add the lemon juice too, but little by little and alternating it with the oil. Before completing, add the basil leaves, continuing to whisk, and a pinch of pepper.
Once the desired creaminess has been reached, transfer the mayonnaise to a glass jar.

Ore ed ore di parole in burocratese, di domande, sempre le stesse poste all’infinito, e di risposte confuse, smozzicate.
Ma chi è che nella realtà si ricorda dov’era e cosa faceva l’8 ottobre del 1976????

C’è stato un tempo, verso la fine della scuola, in cui mi era venuta una mezza idea di fare l’avvocato. La divorzista, per la precisione.
Mi sembrava un posto di lavoro sicuro. Una professione accettata dalla società e soprattutto remunerativa vista il numero esponenziale di separazioni!
Poi però l’idea di studiare latino per altri cinque anni, mi ha un po’ sconfortato, l’aver assistito a un vero processo civile, lungo, noioso, assolutamente diverso dall’immagine frizzante e avventurosa che ne dava la tv, mi ha convinta a cambiare strada.

La verità è che mi ero fatta molto influenzare dall’apparenza, dal lustro che la professione ha sempre avuto tramite i media, nei quali sono persone autoritarie, bellissime, occupatissime, che si occupano di casi simbolo, importanti, difficili. Nessuna serie tv ha mai fatto vedere gli avvocati discutere del prezzo di una riparazione nel condominio tal de tali. Anche in quel caso si scopre…

A volte la vita è complicata quanto un romanzo. Perfino di più. Quindi niente di quello che troviamo scritto in questa tetralogia ci stupisce o ci sconvolge, ma la sua forza sta proprio nel realismo, nella capacità di svelarci ciò che era già davanti ai nostri occhi.

Siete mai stati a Sorrento in Luglio? con il profumo di limone che si espande dappertutto, si mescola col mare, col pesce, con le fritture degli ambulanti, coi biscotti appena sfornati.
Siete mai stati su una delle meravigliose terrazze a guardare il Golfo, sorseggiando limoncello* e gustando la mozzarella in carrozza[1]o altre specialità?
No?
Che aspettate?
La vita è una e qualche sfizio bisogna pur toglierselo!

L’estate è ancora lontana seppur le prime giornate di caldo intenso si facciano sentire –accompagnate poi da tre o quattro giorni di pioggia e freddo. – Ma, prenotando ora, forse, una gita sulla costiera non vi verrà a costare un rene.
C’è qualcosa di magico nel profumo dei limoni al tramonto.

Not the questions, the answers !!!!
Even today I persist outraged!

“Alice, the Other One”

Why did I like it so much? The answer is simple: the author is at her debut but I feel like I’ve always known her! Since the beginning I found myself absorbed in the story and getting to know the characters as if I had always read her books. It Being able to get intothe story from the very first lines, was relaxing and satisfying. I literally devoured this book, I started it on the train on a Saturday and on the subway on Monday I had already finished it.

The definition of a “heavy” or “light” book always reminds me of the image of a large tome written on 90 gr / m2 paper or, vice versa, on sheets of tissue.

I know very well that, instead, it refers to the plot, and I also use this term sometimes, but this misrepresentation continues to come to my mind.

What is that makes a book  “heavy” or “light”? Surely neither the length, nor the number of machinations, perhaps the type of narration?

For me, it is subjectivity.

I do not deny that there are books that are objectively more difficult than others, written in refined language, very convoluted, but I think that if you are zealous, even those become suddenly light.
I’m not digressing, however the book that I would like to recommend was defined by the critics as “light” and “sparkling”, but I would not want this to belittle…

“L’Altra Alice”

Tutti noi, prima o poi nella vita, ci siamo ritrovati subordinati a qualcuno pur di riuscire nelle nostre ambizioni, Alice è tutti noi, e noi non possiamo che tifare per lei!

Un po’ Bridget Jones un po’ Kay Scarpetta senza però mai copiare, semplicemente mi è sembrato che le omaggi e ne faccia un mix perfetto per un lettore moderno che ha voglia di evadere un po’ senza dover rinunciare a quel tocco di mistero a tinte gialle.

La definizione di un libro “pesante” o “leggero” mi fa sempre venire in mente l’immagine di un grosso tomo scritto su carta 90 gr/m2 o, viceversa, su fogli di carta velina.

So benissimo che invece ci si riferisce alla trama, e anche io lo uso come termine a volte, ma continua a venirmi in mente questa caricatura.

Perché cos’è che fa di una storia un libro “pesante” o “leggero”? di certo non la lunghezza, né il numero degli intrighi, forse il tipo di narrazione?

Per me, è la soggettività.

Non nego che ci siano dei libri oggettivamente più difficili, scritti in linguaggio aulico, molto arzigogolati, ma credo che se ci si appassiona anche quelli diventano improvvisamente leggeri.

Non sto divagando, è che il libro che vorrei consigliare è stato definito dalla critica “leggero” e “frizzante”, ma non vorrei che questo lo sminuisse.

Fatto sta che io l’ho raccomandato a chiunque…
