“IZombie, Fried Brain and … lots of laughs!”

I recommend you watch it with friends because the life of Liv and her groups is full of adventures to comment on, starting with my favorite part: every time she eats a brain, she takes on the personality of its previous owner. So, we will see her serious and studious, or alcoholic, or brazen or shy. And these sudden personality changes take the narrative to a level of great performance for actress Rose McIver and pure enjoyment for the viewer.

Since I have Netflix, I have started to diverge a lot in the choice of TV series, if with generalist TV I was in fact a bit forced to choose between teen drama and crime, now I have any genre at my disposal.

So, while the infernal heat was imminent since June, I looked for something different, funny but also with a good plot, and with a length that was not excessive (like GOT“Power, Seduction, Wine… other Wiiiine!!!) but not even minimal (like New Girl).

So, I saw the iZombie icon by chance, and I must say I was very skeptical. The zombie stories are not exactly my favorite ones, because they tend to duplication and refer to each other, so watched one, watched all! Furthermore, a few months earlier I had tried to watch The Walking Dead with my friends Federica and Anna with very poor…

“Home is where you eat the best foods”

This book is consoling, like a warm broth in the early autumn cold, like a cover against a cold, like a wet patch on the forehead burning with fever; brings to mind the lunches from Sunday in which all the relatives gather to eat with passion baked pasta, second courses of rabbits, chickens and fillings, succulent delights

There is always a spinster aunt in the family, usually. If I continue at this rate, the next generation could be the one to represent the category …

49_ le tre minestre

Even if today, we say single.

The spinster aunt, usually, can be of two types: A) the one who cooks in the kitchen for all the grandchildren, taking the place of a third grandmother, who never knows which table she belongs to, who knits and takes over the whole family and who always tells the usual four journeys of when she was young…. Or B) the wanderer who is always around the world, returns only to the holidays that are always commanded with new stories and new gifts.

Here, I hope to be at least the type B.

For a while I had one on each side, maternal and paternal, then when everyone had lost hope, both prototype A and B found…

“See Naples and die”

The smell of fried food. If you were to ask me what I identify Naples with, before the sea, the warmness, the fish, the pizza, the alleys, the poetry, the music, the people screaming from window to window. I would say the smell of fried food. Naples is my second home, having almost the whole … Continua a leggere “See Naples and die”

“Penny Dreadful: between Blood and Wine”

The series takes its name from the nineteenth-century publications of the same name, the dreadful pennies, and inspired by the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen by Alan Moore, the series intertwines the origins of horror literature characters such as Victor Frankenstein, Dorian Gray (the only note I have to do is the error, once again, of the hair colour alas), Dr. Jekyll, Count Dracula, werewolves, witches and vampires, all of whom are grappling with their creepy madness in Victorian London.

I really like the scenes because they remind me of a huge theatre, with the pictorial poetry of some sequences to make this show a product of rare workmanship and emotion.

“Have a KILLER day!”

My relationship with Dexter, as with other TV series, was wavering, I finished the first three seasons that same August, but I struggled a lot with the fourth and fifth, so much so that I left it for a while (two years! !!) before ending with a marathon – always during the summer! – of the sixth, seventh and eighth seasons (which in the meantime I had sporadically already seen on TV … a sign that they were actually replicas of replicas of replicas and it was a coincidence that for me it was a novelty) and a kilo of enchiladas shrimps * – which once after the series ended, it took about eight months before I could ate them again…

“Art, Men, Cream cake and Donuts”

<Wait. Before starting it, go buy some sweets, possibly donuts>, my mother suggests to me as she browse the pages of a book.

I glared a bit, if anything I would have expected she recommend an ice with that suffocating heat, but she smiles at me <trust me>.

And I trust her.

“If you can’t be a good example, you’ll just have to be a horrible warning.”[1]

Fresh, silky, fun, engaging and enveloping, passionate and fluent”, these were the adjectives associated with the novel by those who had already read it, and which prompted me to want to read it on a sunny and lazy June afternoon, while someone was already on vacation and I was struggling with the summer university exam session! Tired of studying on university books, I went to my parents’ library – which may seem they have a book store, but it’s not the case , they “only” have eight shelves full of novels of all kinds (still wondering how I became a bookaholic? Here is the answer!) – and I started looking for some titles that I hadn’t already read, a titanic but not impossible feat considering that 4 out of 4 family members read…

” To Luke’s, for Hamburger & Coffee”

Personally, I grew up with this show, when it came out in 2002 I was sixteen … now I’m thirty … it’s easy to understand that now Lorelai, Rory, Luke, Sookie and the rest of the country, are part of my life, my family! So, I must admit , every time it is on tv, I find myself rewatching it, so much so that I could recite line by line some of the episodes.
And every time I watch an episode I get very hungry!!!

Through The Mirror

Is there any of you that never heard this theme? I can’t believe it, it’s impossible!
Willy-nilly it happened to everyone of us to listen to it and maybe even humming it, since on TV they give the replicas of “Gilmore Girls” one day in one day out!
Whether it is summer or winter, with rain, snow or the sun, it is in the schedules! A guarantee equal only to “Murders she wrote” and, despite this, every time it succeeds to make a share to envy the news around, despite we know all the jokes by heart we continue to watch the show, cause Stars Hollow is always a second home, you can’t avoid to fall in love with Jess[1](or Dean, or Chris, or Luke, or Logan, depends on your #ship) and remain glued to listen to the fast dialogues of the protagonists. Impossible to resist the…

“Scream(ing) in the Summer”

Currently the first two seasons are available on Netflix, but after the special Halloween 2016, there is a third and final (rumours) season made of six episodes.
When?????

We are still waiting

Through The Mirror

The horrortumblr_n141rcaide1sl1yruo1_500has never been my favourite kind, but there has been a Summer during my teenage years when a series of such films stepped out and so I have seen them all, becoming almost a fan.

Rarely these stories make me really scared, insted their soundtracks leave  me with that sense of subdued anguish , but to be honest a few scenes let me also with sleepless nights.

Although not an expert I know the main rule:

scream-mtv-season-2-announce1so when I heard that they would have created a TV series from a horror saga I was very much intrigued. I find it already difficult to make the film sequel, but even a TV show? How?

Criticism and vaguely sceptical – for the cast of teenagers, for the genre, for the usual bad guy with the mask -, I arranged an energetic bowl of popcorn *, a nice glass of…
