“London is a bad habit one hates to lose.”

I miss it so so much, because over the years it had become a secure destination, with its powerful smells and the accent that makes me fall in love with every citizen, with its old monuments and new architecture, with its breakfast which for me is a lunch and dinner which for me is a snack. With its illogical schedules, the people always running, endless queues, tea.

Through The Mirror

It is the city of Harry Potter, Alice, Shakespeare and Sherlock Holmes, so despite the brexit, the political behavior to Italy during the emergency, and the snobbery, I will love London forever and unconditionally.

And I miss it so so much, because over the years it had become a secure destination, with its powerful smells and the accent that makes me fall in love with every citizen, with its old monuments and new architecture, with its breakfast which for me is a lunch and dinner which for me is a snack. With its illogical schedules, the people always running, endless queues, tea.

London is a gothic and sinister city, but it’s also warm and welcoming. What always strikes me about London is the sun.

Because for years, thanks to literature, films, TV series, the stories of those who had been there, I had imagined this city…

Classics: “Dracula”

Dracula is a mysterious and fascinating figure, despite being presented as an old hoary, the collective imagination seems to have always focused on the part where thanks to the blood of the living he can return to taking on young and beautiful appearances.

Through The Mirror

“Oh, the terrible struggle that I have had against sleep so often of late; the pain of the sleeplessness, or the pain of the fear of sleep, and with such unknown horror as it has for me! How blessed are some people, whose lives have no fears, no dreads; to whom sleep is a blessing that comes nightly, and brings nothing but sweet dreams.”
― Bram Stoker, Dracula

The term vampire derives from the lean “vampyr”, from the Lithuanian word “wempti”, which means “to drink”, from the Turkish “uber”, “to be diabolical”, and from the Slavic root “pi”, “sorcerer. The mythology of the undead who, by infernal concession, can continue to live by feeding on the blood of the living, plants its oldest roots in the religiosity of the Slavic peoples, strongly linked to the cult of the dead.

“London Calling: Cormoran Strike’s Trilogy”

No more a trilogy… still a pleasure!

Through The Mirror

London is one of my favourite cities in the world. I’ve been there 9 times, I visited the city in all seasons, I’ve even lived there for a while: I saw London in the October’s fog, under the January’s snow, in the August’s rain and the June’s heat.

I explored the tourist area and that of those who live there, I’ve been in the rich and poor neighborhoods.

I fell in love with the accents of the inhabitants and the perennially autumn colours, I was able to adapt to the foreign food, but not to the low temperatures.

It has not always been like that, in fact the first time I went there it was to study English, I was in one of those summer groups organized by my father’s work. An opportunity to make new friends more than anything else.

I didn’t think I would be…
