“Forbidden to forget”

No, it is not a story set in the 1940s, nor under Franchism. The Scent of Lemon Leaves is a modern story, fictionalized enough to make it tolerable, but which reminds us how this plague has not yet been completely defeated. And although the scent of the lemon leaves in the title makes us think of a candid love story born in an orchard, in reality it hides the rotten stink of evil that camouflages itself as good.

Through The Mirror

Traveling by train is the perfect time for me to abandon myself completely to reading, the monotonous lull of the locomotive, the chatter of unknown voices in the thin corridors, are the perfect background to immerse myself into a literary adventure. And if the noises are too loud and annoying, as happens lately, with inappropriate phone calls or even more inappropriate fights, then you can arm yourself with the dear old faithful mp3 and find the right soundtrack *.

Trains are becoming faster and faster so I can hardly start and finish a book on the go as in the past, and I must admit that I miss it a bit. But on the journey to Venice a couple of springs ago, I managed to find a private seat and complete half of the novel I had brought with me, then finishing the second half on the return trip.

“The difficult PATH to good”

I love when a TV series makes you think, it puts you in front of a moral dilemma and with each episode it confuses you more and more… it is not a static product, it is not a passive relationship. This show brings the viewer to take an active part, questions which faction to choose, and – for the first time – put a completely different point of view on religious cults.

Through The Mirror

Winter, apartment under renovation, there are homeless seeking shelter against sub-zero temperatures, the builder chases them away. He has to do it. But then he goes out quickly, comes back shortly after with a shopping bag and a couple of steaming sandwiches, goes to the homeless and leaves them everything.

the-path-204-1

Is it the proximity to Christmas, or – like me – did he just finished The Path and had a great need to do good to humanity, seasoned with a vague but constant sense of guilt?
Perhaps he is just a generous man, the fact is that it is rare to see such a gesture and it remains impressed on me.
Especially since, as I mentioned, I have just finished to watch the second season of one of the most ambiguous series ever.
How thin is the line between good and evil?
When we do a good action, are we…

“Spy hunter”

Unlike other series that I watched in one breath, I distributed Homeland in the various long, cold, dark winters, with a maximum of three episodes a week, because the topics covered are still a weak point for me, too painful comparison with reality. –

Through The Mirror

To whom we have to trust, we ask ourselves questions in Homeland. Of the war hero believed dead in Iraq, found and released after years of imprisonment, who has perhaps become, in the meantime, an Al Qaeda spy? Or the only CIA agent who suspects the threat, but who, at the same time, exceeds with the use of drugs and seems to have some misplaced wheels?

In your opinion, having read some of my articles, what attracted me to “Homeland”? The “spy hunt”? how they translated the title in Italy? Because

I have always been fascinated by the CIA? For an insane desire to watch in the fictions what we unfortunately already find  in the news? – ie: that the terrorists are our neighbors, people we meet every day.

No. Or rather, they are all good points, but what convinced me to start this TV series was to…
